A message about interprofessional education at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio
Numerous national reports recommend improving health professions education to align with emerging health care reform. Changes in state and national health care delivery require health professionals to collaborate in teams, health homes and accountable care organizations.
The goal of interprofessional education (IPE) at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio is to promote and support the process by which students, residents, fellows and faculty with different health disciplinary backgrounds learn and interact with each other with the focus on improving care for patients.
The deans of each of our five Health Science Center schools and I fully support and encourage programs in interprofessional education and believe that experiences in and exposure to IPE are crucial to developing competent health professionals who are prepared to meet the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s health care environment.
Please explore the IPE opportunities that are offered throughout this website and participate in as many programs as you are able. Since this site will be updated frequently, please return here often to see what programs have been added that will aid you in your goal of becoming the most proficient health professional possible.
